COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Swimmers Yirong Bi, Gabby DeLoof, Siobhán Haughey and Clara Smiddy have been chosen to represent the University of Michigan at the upcoming USA College Challenge, to be held Nov. 12-13 at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rosters for the inaugural event, which features select U.S. National Team members vs. competitors from all 13 Big Ten programs in a dual-meet format, were announced Monday (Oct. 31) by USA Swimming.
In addition to the current swimmers, program alumna Ali DeLoof (2013-16) will swim for the National Team. Michigan head coach Mike Bottom will serve in the same capacity for the Big Ten women's team. Five men's swimmers are also heading to Indianapolis: Luke Papendick, Paul Powers, PJ Ransford, Charlie Swanson and Evan White.
Points will be awarded to the top three times in individual events and the team that is victorious in each relay event. With 262 points available in the 30 total events, the first team to reach 131.5 points will be named the winner. Every event will be in short-course yards.
The Big Ten Network will televise both sessions of the meet on Sunday, Nov. 13. The first session will air on delay at 10 a.m. ET, followed by a live broadcast of the second session at noon. Both sessions will be available to stream via the BTN2Go app. Bernie Guenther (play-by-play) and Rowdy Gaines (analyst) are scheduled to be on the call.
Tickets are on sale now through USA Swimming. All-session tickets cost $35 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. Single-day tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children.
