Wolverines Announce Six-Game Fall Schedule

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Returning to the field after its runner-up finish at the NCAA Women's College World Series, the University of Michigan softball team will play a six-game fall schedule, highlighted by a home slate against intrastate rival Michigan State on Sept. 30 at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field.
The four-team field at the annual Traverse City College Tournament (Sept. 26-27) consists of Michigan, Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Oakland, with all four teams facing one another in a round-robin format with championship and consolation games to follow. All games will be held at Traverse City West High School.
Michigan will also play a home-and-home series against the Spartans, welcoming to Alumni Field at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, before wrapping fall competition a week later, on Wednesday, Oct. 7, with a 4:30 p.m. road contest at the Spartans' Secchia Stadium in East Lansing, Michigan. Admission to the Wolverines' home game will be free of charge.
The fall tournament slate provides U-M softball fans their first opportunity to view the 2016 Wolverine lineup, which will feature seven freshmen. These newcomers will join a veteran U-M contingent that last season swept the Big Ten Conference regular-season and tournament titles and claimed second place at the NCAA Women's College World Series.
Michigan returns all but three members of its 2015 squad. Among those returning are four All-Americans -- senior centerfielder Sierra Lawrence, senior second baseman Sierra Romero, junior leftfielder Kelly Christner and junior RHP Megan Betsa.
