SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Sophomore Carter Lin made the quarterfinals of the singles main draw, and junior/sophomore Davis Crocker advanced to the quarterfinals of consolation action as the University of Michigan men's tennis team completed action at the Battle in the Bay, hosted by the University of San Francisco this weekend (Sept. 18-19) at the California Tennis Club.
In addition, the duo picked up a doubles win in the second round of action. The pair pulled out an 8-7 (6) win over Jake DeVine and Logan Smith of USC on Friday (Sept. 18). Crocker and Lin fell in a tiebreaker the next day, bowing out to Nils Skajaa and Thomas Takemoto of San Francisco (8-7 (2)) on Saturday (Sept. 19).
In singles, Lin went 2-1 in the main draw. Crocker lost his first match in the main draw, sending him to the consolation bracket. He picked up one win before falling in three to San Diego's James Ponwith.
Michigan returns to action next month, competing at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at Notre Dame. The event runs from Oct. 22-26.
