Tonight's loss snapped the Wolverines' 28-game win streak, which dated back to April 4 at Minnesota. Michigan dropped a 9-1, six-inning decision in the series opener against the Golden Gophers the previous night and bounced back to take the next two.
Michigan fell to 8-7 in the all-time series against Florida. The Gators have claimed three wins over U-M this season -- two with just one-run margins.
In its previous appearance in the WCWS championship series in 2005, Michigan dropped the first game, 5-0, before claiming the next two to capture its first NCAA championship.
Sophomore Abby Ramirez leads the Wolverines with a .545 average (6-for-11) through four WCWS games. Her two runs batted in tonight are her first of the series.
Senior LHP Haylie Wagner has not allowed a run through 13 innings pitched at the WCWS. She has given up just six hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters.
