Campbell Nets CWPA Defensive Player of the Week Accolade

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- University of Michigan junior goalkeeper Julia Campbell snared the final Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Defensive Player of the Week award of the 2014-15 season following her stellar play over three games last week in Indiana, the league office announced Wednesday (April 22). It is Campbell's third weekly accolade this season.
Campbell posted 16 saves in the Wolverine cage to just five goals allowed over 56 minutes played against Mercyhurst, Gannon and Bucknell. She posted a weekend-high seven stops in the second half against Gannon and six saves in U-M's regular-season finale against Bucknell. She also tallied a steal against the Bison.
Campbell boasts a 14-2 record in goal this season and owns a team-leading .551 save percentage and 6.40 goals-against average.
The Wolverines will kick off the postseason at the annual CWPA Championship this weekend (Fri-Sun., April 24-26) at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, New Jersey. The tournament's No. 2 seed, U-M will face the winner of the Bucknell/Connecticut College contest at 6 p.m. on Friday.
