Q U O T E S
Michigan Head Coach Carol Hutchins
On Megan Betsa's game ... "She stayed in her moment. When she didn't have some good pitches, she came back and just stayed in her process. She looked like she was just trying to do her part, and that's all we need her to do."
On Kelly Christner's recent tear ... "She's just doing a great job seeing the ball. When you see the ball, your chance of hitting it of course goes up. She's confident right now. Seeing the ball is key."
On U-M's hitting improvements as the game went on ... "We just wanted them to shorten up and hit it on the ground. They were camping on us, and we were a little big and long. She was mixing her speeds up, and we just tried to shorten in up."
U-M Sophomore RHP Megan Betsa
On her no-hitter ... "It felt good. I was just trying to do my part and put the fewest amount of runs on the board; that's what I did. It was nice to see that also though. I looked up [at the scoreboard] and saw it there. I just tried to stay in my process and stay focused on one pitch. I just wanted to get ahead of the hitters and try to cut down on my walks -- I think I only had one. That was nice to see too."
On midweek games ... "It gets us loosened up for the upcoming weekend. It's nice to get out of the same practice routine and get out and play a game against another team.
On staying focused no matter the score ... "It's really important to make sure your mentality doesn't change. That's something we focus on. Whether it's a 0-0 game or a 10-0 game, you've just got to stay in there and focused on the pitch you're about to throw."
U-M Sophomore Kelly Christner
On adjusting to several pitching changes ... "I went in there and didn't focus on the pitcher, her windup or what specific pitches she was throwing. I just tried to see the ball. For me, I was trying to not overthink it; I just got a pitch I liked and hit it."
