HONOLULU, Hawaii -- In its first outdoor match of the season, the No. 11-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win at Hawaii on Friday (March 6) at the UH Tennis Complex.

Michigan took the doubles point with wins at No. 3 and No. 2. U-M's No. 3 pair of senior Kristen Dodge and freshman Mira Ruder-Hook was the first off court with an 8-2 win. The Wolverine duo of junior Ronit Yurovsky and senior Sarah Lee clinched the point for the Maize and Blue with an 8-3 victory at No. 2. Senior Emina Bektas and freshman Alex Najarian held a 6-4 lead at No. 1 when their match was abandoned.

Lee quickly pushed the Wolverine lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2, her first match of the season at the No. 2 slot.

Ruder-Hook provided Michigan's third point of the day, taking a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4. Najarian wrapped up the match for Michigan with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 4.

With the dual match in hand, Dodge followed Lee moments later with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at No. 6. Sophomore Sara Remynse accounted for Michigan's sixth point of the match, taking a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 to push Michigan's lead to 6-0.

Hawaii put its only point of the board with a win in the final match on court, a win at No. 1 as Yurovsky had her 10-match winning streak snapped in a 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 (6) loss.

The match completed a week of outdoor practice for the Wolverines during their annual spring-break trip.

Michigan returns home to the Varsity Tennis Center for a pair of matches next week, beginning on Thursday (March 12) against Western Michigan. Match time is set for 6 p.m., and admission is free.
