
Haughey Tabbed Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Freshman Siobhán Haughey of the No. 5-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week on Wednesday (Dec. 9) by the conference office.
Haughey swam in four events at the AT&T Winter National Championships last week in Federal Way, Washington, finishing no lower than 12th. She won a bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle (1:58.48), took fifth in the 200-meter individual medley (2:13.20) and seventh in the 100-meter freestyle (55.00) and tied for 12th in the 50-meter freestyle (25.70).
She set University of Michigan long-course (meters) records in three of her four events (100-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle, 200-meter IM). The Hong Kong native recorded the eighth-most points for a women's swimmer over the three-day event (46.50), tops of any current collegiate swimmer.
The Wolverines will be back in action during their annual training trip, swimming at the Orange Bowl Classic on Sunday, Jan. 3, in Key Largo, Florida.
