IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Junior/sophomore Davis Crocker of the University of Michigan men's tennis team captured the singles title at the 2015 Big Ten Indoor Tennis Tournament on Monday afternoon (Nov. 9) at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. The four-day tournament (Nov. 6-9) featured 11 Big Ten teams.
Crocker dropped just one set in six singles matches, winning his final four matches in straight sets. He surrendered just four games in his semifinal match win over Northwestern's Ben Vandixhorn (6-2, 6-2) and five in the finals to Toby Boyer of Nebraska (6-3, 6-2). Crocker scored 12 of the match's final 14 points in the championship match to seal the win.
Junior Kevin Wong made a run to the quarterfinals in singles action before falling to Vandixhorn, who Crocker beat in the next round.
Junior Tyler Gardiner picked up two singles wins and freshman Lubomir Cuba won a singles match at the tournament. Both of Michigan's doubles teams won a consolation match as well.
Michigan concludes the fall season this weekend (Nov. 13-15) at the Lakewood Ranch Invitational in Sarasota, Florida.
