ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior Jamie Nolan is an attacker from San Jose, California, and is majoring in industrial and operations engineering with a math minor. MGoBlue.com sat down with Jamie for a Q&A.
Q. Why did you choose the University of Michigan?
A. The spirit. I checked out some other schools but there was something different about Michigan. You could feel the pride while walking down the street.
Q. How did you get started playing water polo?
A. I was in sixth or seventh grade. My sister had been playing for a year. I told my mom that I might play it one day and then soon after she signed me up for practice. I haven't stopped going since.
Q. What did you do last summer?
A. I traveled to Australia to visit my sister Kelsey, who also played water polo at Michigan, and then studied abroad in France for five weeks. I took a class on European history and one on sustainability and industrial ecology. I went and visited my teammate Allison Skaggs in London while I was there.
Q. If you were having a slumber party and could invite anybody, who would it be?
A. Abraham Lincoln because we share a birthday, Jennifer Lawrence, Chrissy Tiegen and John Legend.
Q. Who do you call after a bad day?
A. My mom or my sister if it is about water polo.
Q. What was the last picture you took on your phone?
A. I found an iPhone on North campus and all the text was in Chinese so I took a picture of it.
Q. What website do you visit the most?
A. Nordstrom and CTools.
Q. What is your most prized possession?
A. My passport or the key to my car.
Q. What is your favorite Michigan tradition?
A. Painting the rock.
Q. What is your favorite season in Ann Arbor and why? (From teammate Emily Browning)
A. Fall in Ann Arbor is my favorite. I love all the colors on the trees and the unpredictability of the weather.
