ATLANTA, Ga. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team had its first full team event of the fall season this weekend (Oct. 16-18), competing at the UGA Invitational at the Windward Lake Club. Joining U-M at the event were Princeton, Clemson and host Georgia.
The tournament was a flighted event, with each team facing all three other squads in both singles and doubles throughout the weekend.
Freshman Brienne Minor highlighted Michigan's singles efforts, going 3-0 with a pair of wins at No. 2 and a win at No. 1 against Clemson's Fernanda Navarro. She also teamed up with senior Ronit Yurovsky to go 3-0 at the top doubles spot.
Yurovsky was 2-0 at No. 1 singles for the Maize and Blue, while freshman Kate Fahey and sophomore Mira Ruder-Hook each won a singles match on the weekend.
On the doubles court, Michigan went 5-2. In addition to Yurovsky and Minor's perfect weekend, Ruder-Hook was 2-0 pairing with both Fahey and sophomore Kara Hall for wins.
Michigan returns to action this week, hosting the ITA Midwest Championships at the Varsity Tennis Center. The event runs from Oct. 22-27 and is free.
