With the 6-0 win tonight, the Wolverines have won a season-best seven games in a row, the program's longest winning streak since an eight-game winning streak from Feb. 11-March 12, 2011. The Wolverines have outscored their opposition 38-20 in that span. The Wolverines have the nation's longest active winning streak. Michigan has also won seven straight games in Big Ten play.
Michigan earned its first weekend series sweep at Wisconsin since Dec. 12-13, 1975 (W, 8-4, W, 8-3). The Wolverines are 66-54-8 in the all-time series against the Badgers.
U-M has recorded 52 goals in eight Big Ten Conference games, leading the league with an average of 6.50 goals per game. Michigan's scoring average overall is up to nation-leading 4.36 goals per game, with 96 goals in 22 contests, including 30 in the last four games (7.5 goals/game).
The last time Michigan topped 30 goals in four games was when the Wolverines scored 32 goals in four games from March 2-14, 1997.
Michigan has topped the six-goal mark nine times this season. The last time a Michigan team had six or more goals in nine games in a single season was 2006-07 (10 times).
Four Michigan players have point streaks of four games or more, led by Zach Hyman (seven games, 9G, 9A) and Dylan Larkin (seven games, 7G, 10A). Tyler Motte (five games, 2G, 5A) and Andrew Copp (four games, 4G, 4A) are also leading Michigan up front.
Six different players recorded multiple-point nights, led by Zach Hyman (2G, A). Zach Werenski (2G), Andrew Copp (2G), Justin Selman (2A), Dylan Larkin (G, A) and Tony Calderone (G, A) also had multiple-point nights for Michigan. Hyman leads the team with 11 multiple-point games this season.
Zach Hyman has a seven-game goal scoring streak (nine goals overall in that span). Hyman's streak is the longest by a Michigan student-athlete since Brendan Morrison had an eight-game goal-scoring streak during the 1995-96 season.
Hyman leads the team and the Big Ten with 35 points (16 goals, 19 assists) this season. In addition to his points and goals streak, he has notched a point in 11 of his last 12 contests. Michigan is 12-0-0 when Hyman scores a goal this season. Hyman is third in the nation in scoring and has matched his point total (35 points) through his first three seasons combined at Michigan.
After tonight, Dylan Larkin leads all Big Ten freshmen with 29 points (9G, 20A) on the season. He is No. 2 in the nation in freshman scoring and No. 4 in the nation with an average of 1.45 points/game.
Freshman defenseman Zach Werenski (2G) recorded his first career two-goal game and has had an immediate impact on the Michigan blue line. Werenski is second among Big Ten freshmen and Big Ten defensemen with 18 points (5G, 13A) in 20 games.
Michigan outshot Wisconsin 44-17 on the night, topping 40 shots for the seventh time this season. U-M is third in the nation with an average of 35.14 shots/game and has outshot its opponents in 16 of 22 games this season.
