• Despite the loss, Michigan leads the all-time series vs. Notre Dame, 24-17-1.
• Michigan's NCAA FBS record of most consecutive games without being shut out (376) ends with tonight's loss. The last time the Wolverines were shut out was on Oct. 20, 1984 (26-0, at Iowa).
• Junior wide receiver Devin Funchess finished the game with a career-high nine receptions for a team-high 107 yards. It marked Funchess' fourth career 100-yard game.
• Funchess has posted at least one catch in 16 straight games.
• Senior quarterback Devin Gardner began tonight's game by completing 6-of-6 passes for 50 yards and did not throw an incomplete pass until the beginning of the second quarter. Gardner completed 19 of his first 20 passes to start the 2014 campaign.
• Senior quarterback Devin Gardner threw 172 consecutive passes without an interception before tossing an interception in the third quarter of tonight's contest. It marked Gardner's first interception since U-M's game at Michigan State on Nov. 2, 2013.
• After completing 19 of 32 passes for 189 yards, senior quarterback Devin Gardner (333 completions, 2010-present) moved into ninth place on U-M's all-time career completions list, surpassing Steve Smith (324, 1980-83).
• Senior linebacker Jake Ryan tied a career high with 11 tackles. He posted eight tackles in the first half, including five stops in the first quarter.
• Senior defensive end Frank Clark posted his second tackle-for-loss of the season against the Fighting Irish. Clark has notched 9.0 TFLs over Michigan's last 11 games.
• Senior Raymon Taylor posted his first TFL of the season in the first quarter.
• Sophomore defensive back Jourdan Lewis notched his first career TFL in the third quarter.
• Junior fullback Joe Kerridge hauled in his first catch of the season on a fourth-down conversion in the first quarter. Kerridge owns seven career receptions.
• Senior defensive back Delonte Hollowell made his first career start this evening against the Fighting Irish.
• Sophomore tight end Jake Butt, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in February, made his season debut on the third offensive play.
• Tonight's game captains for Michigan were Blake Countess, Will Hagerup, Joe Kerridge and Raymon Taylor.
