Michigan defeated a top-10 opponent for the first time since 2003, when it beat No. 4 Notre Dame, 1-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in South Bend, Ind. Michigan advanced past No. 1 Penn State in penalty kicks on Nov. 3, 2005, in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament, but the game is officially recorded as tie (3-3, 2OT).
U-M is 8-3-3 against ranked opponents throughout the last three seasons.
Michigan is unbeaten in its last five meetings with Wisconsin (3-0-2), dating back to the 2011 season.
Wisconsin held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks in today's match, but Michigan did not allow a goal on corner-kick opportunities.
Goalkeeper Megan Hinz has started five games in her freshman campaign, earning wins in all five, including three shutouts. She has allowed just two goals, with both coming in Big Ten play this weekend.
Ani Sarkisian has tallied four goals in the last three games, with three of them coming in the first 12 minutes of three different games. With today's last-second game-winning goal, she now has two game-winners on the season (Central Michigan).
Bailey Haydock's assist on the game-winning goal gave her the first point in her Michigan career.
