• Michigan fell to Michigan State in the first-ever meeting between the two schools in postseason play. U-M leads the all-time series with MSU, 97-77 (90-74).
• Overall, U-M moves to 15-16 (11-15 sanctions) all-time in the Big Ten Tournament, including a 1-1 (0-1) mark in the championship game and an 8-7 cumulative record under head coach John Beilein. U-M is 5-2 on a neutral floor so far this season.
• Michigan was unable to overcome 31.5 percent shooting (17-for-54) from the floor, including 26.1 percent (6-for-23) from beyond the arc.
• After converting on each of their first nine free throws and going 11-for-12 in the first half, the Wolverines added to their Big Ten-leading 75.58 free throw percentage by finishing 15-for-16 (93.8 percent) from the line, marking the 19th game this season in which U-M has shot 75 percent or better from the charity stripe as a team.
• Big Ten Player of the Year Nik Stauskas led the Wolverines with 17 points, marking his 11th consecutive game in double-figure points and the 20th time he has led U-M in scoring this season.
• Derrick Walton Jr. scored 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting (50 percent), adding four rebounds and one assist, marking his 12th game in double figures this season.
• Jordan Morgan scored eight second-half points and added six rebounds; he has pulled down five or more boards in five of the last six contests.
• Max Bielfeldt set a season high with 13 minutes of action, pulling down two rebounds.
• Michigan's starting lineup featured: Derrick Walton Jr., Nik Stauskas, Caris LeVert, Glenn Robinson III and Jordan Morgan.
