ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team has announced the addition of former Battle Creek club lacrosse coach and Holt Middle School assistant Ben Badalamente to the staff in the position of video coordinator, head coach John Paul announced Monday (Dec. 8).
"We're looking forward to having Ben join our staff," said Paul. "The video coordinator position is a very important role for us. Getting the right information to our coaches and athletes, in the right way, is critical, and Ben will be instrumental in helping us continue to develop that process. Ben is going to help take our program to the next level in that area."
Badalamente joins the fold after recently serving as a high school athletic director intern at East Lansing High School and Haslett High School. Concurrently, he secured a master's degree in sports administration via Central Michigan University and has experience as both a high school and middle school English teacher.
In terms of coaching experience, he has served as the head coach of the Battle Creek Club Lacrosse squad for the 2011-12 seasons, as well as an assistant coach at Holt Middle School from 2009-10. Additionally, he has served as an assist football coach at Harper Creek as well as Grand Ledge High School. He played two years of football at Central Michigan and later was a member of the Central Michigan club lacrosse team
"I would like to thank head coach John Paul and his staff for allowing me the opportunity to join this great program," said Badalamente of his appointment. "It is my intention to work closely with the coaches and student-athletes in providing them with a generous amount of relevant film to assist the coaches in preparation of upcoming opponents and assist the athletes in strengthening their game through self-reflection."
Michigan will open up the 2015 season with a pair of exhibition matchups against Marquette and Denison on Saturday, Jan. 31, inside Oosterbaan Field House.
