Michigan and AIC met for the first time since AIC became a Division I program in 1998. The Wolverines improved to 17-3-1 all-time against teams currently in Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) and have played at least one AHA opponent in each of the last seven seasons.
Junior forward Andrew Copp matched a career high with three points on the night (2G, A), with his last three-point game coming against Boston College on Oct. 10, 2013.
Five different Wolverines recorded multiple-point nights, with Kevin Lohan (G,A) and Max Shuart (G,A) recording multiple point efforts for the first time in a Michigan uniform. Lohan notched his first career goal tonight.
Four different Michigan defensemen (Zach Werenski - 2, Michael Downing - 1, Cutler Martin - 1, Kevin Lohan - 1) have combined for five goals so far in eight games this season. In 2013-14, three Michigan defensemen combined for eight goals in 35 games.
Sophomore defenseman Nolan De Jong added an assist on Andrew Copp's third-period goal and increased his point streak to three games.
Sophomore goaltender Zach Nagelvoort recorded 11 saves to earn his first win of the season in net.
Michigan allowed just 13 shots on net in the victory, the fewest shots that the Wolverines have allowed in a game since Nov. 6, 2009, a 3-1 loss to Miami (Ohio).
The Wolverines recorded a season-high 41 shots on net in the victory, topping the 40 mark in shots for the second time this season, and the first time since Oct. 25 at Boston University.
Michigan finished the night 1-for-1 on the penalty kill, the team's fifth perfect PK performance of the season.
