The Wolverines held leads of 28-10 over Iowa and 25-13 over Nebraska following Friday night's (Oct. 2) opening session and built on those leads today from the get-go. The Wolverines won the first three events, including the 200-yard medley relay to begin Saturday's session and then finished by taking the final seven.
Smiddy and Oldershaw were both part of the 200-yard medley relay along with juniors Ali DeLoof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) and Zoe Mattingly (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville). Smiddy also closed the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay along with DeLoof, Mattingly and sophomore Julia Fiks Salem (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Domus Sapientiae).
In both of her individual wins, Smiddy earned NCAA provisional times. She won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.40, and later took first in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.99.
