ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior midfielder Corinne Harris of the No. 25-ranked University of Michigan women's soccer team was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Five first team, the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday (Oct. 30). A psychology major, Harris now advances to the Academic All-America team ballot; that team will be announced Tuesday, Nov. 25.
To be eligible, nominated student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, in his/her second year at the current institution and must have played in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
Harris has helped the Wolverines to a 12-4-2 record so far this season, including an 8-2-2 mark in Big Ten play, which currently puts Michigan third in the Big Ten standings with one regular-season match remaining. She has started all 18 games this season for U-M in the midfield, recording three goals and nine assists. Her nine assists are currently tied for second in the Big Ten and give her a total of 20 career assists, which are tied for fourth on Michigan's all-time career assists list.
Throughout her career, Harris has played in 64 career games with 43 starts and helped lead Michigan to two NCAA Tournament appearances, where it advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in 2012 and Elite Eight in 2013. As a freshman in 2012, she was selected to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
Additionally, the Chicago native received Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten honors last year as a sophomore.
Michigan closes out the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 1) at Purdue. The match will begin at 7 p.m. at Boilermaker Soccer Complex and will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
