• Maize & Blue at Home for Two This Weekend
Each week, we will give fans an inside look at the Michigan volleyball program with the At the Net blogs. This week, junior Carly Warner talks about the rare free weekend, a camera crew at practice and the move to Pink Thursday.
After an exciting week playing Michigan State twice and splitting, the team had two days off. This was different for us because our games are rarely set up where we play on a Tuesday and a Friday. It was nice having two days off because it let the team to recover, catch up on some much needed sleep, and who can forget about schoolwork.
We were able to get back into a normal routine until we were told that our practice on Wednesday would be filmed. The athletic department is creating a recruiting website for future Wolverines and each sports team will have their own video. Wednesday was the day to film our video. The team also had to wear the same colored T-shirt to this practice, sadly taking away our Pink Wednesdays. We were able to move Pink Wednesdays to Thursday, but it just wasn't the same.
Having the film crew at practice was a very interesting experience. The team learned that trying to keep a straight face while a cameraman is filming you from three feet away is very hard. Lindsey Lerg and I decided that being famous might not be as fun as it looks. The funniest part of the film crew being there for me was at the end of practice. The team was standing in a huddle and while Mark was talking to us, one of the cameramen decided to stand right in the middle. Abby Cole and I had a hard time not trying to bust out laughing.
With the past couple of weeks being so weird it will be nice to get back to a regular, more natural routine especially with school picking up.
