BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Junior goalkeeper Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) of the University of Michigan water polo team grabbed a share of the CWPA Western Division Defensive Player of the Week award as it was announced today (Thursday, March 22).
Adamson received the honor for her 2-0 record last weekend. She posted a combined 16 saves, five assists and a steal in helping the Wolverines defeat California Lutheran University (15-3) and Concordia University (14-9) at home during the Wolverine Invitational (March 17-18).
In the tournament opener against Salem International (March 17), she played offense and scored on her only attempt to help U-M pick up a 13-0 victory.
The announcement comes a day after Adamson picked up her 50th career victory in the cage with a 15-6 win at Notre Dame (Ohio) on Wednesday (March 21).
The award marks the eighth honor of Adamson's career and the first of the season. She shared this week's accolade with Indiana goalie Cassie Wyckoff.
