
Chen Finishes Sixth on Platform at Zone Diving Regionals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Four divers from the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team completed competition on Saturday (March 10) at the NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center, with freshman Carey Chen (Vancouver, B.C./University Hill Secondary) leading the way with a sixth-place finish on platform (560.80).
Senior Amanda Lohman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair), who qualified for the NCAA Championships on Friday (March 9) after finishing third on three-meter, led the remaining three divers with a 13th-place finish on platform (210.30). Sophomore Erin Bridgewater (Kawkawlin, Mich./Bay City Western) finished 15th (202.75) and freshman Marina Nazario (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) was 20th (155.45).
Lohman and senior swimmer Caitlin Dauw (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) will represent Michigan at the 2012 NCAA Championships, which run Thursday (March 15) through Saturday (March 17) in Auburn, Ala. Dauw will swim the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly at the meet, while Lohman will dive on all three boards. Preliminaries will begin at 11 a.m. CST, with finals beginning at 6:30 p.m. CST.
