UPDATE (9/30/2011): Due to rainy weather on Friday (Sept. 30), the fall game between Michigan and Michigan State has been moved to Wednesday (Oct. 5) at 6 p.m. Wednesday's game will be followed by the Jordan Taylor "So You Think You Can Hit?" fundraiser.
For the fall game against Michigan State, the Crisler Lower Blue Lot SC-7 will be available for parking after 4 p.m. Fans can park near the railroad tracks and take the walkway to Alumni Field.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan softball team will host the first of two fall games on Friday (Sept. 30) at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field. U-M will take on Michigan State at 6 p.m., followed by former All-American Jordan Taylor (2008-11) holding a fundraiser for Making Strides for Breast Cancer.
The Wolverines and Spartans will play twice this weekend, squaring off in Ann Arbor before completing the series on Sunday (Oct. 2) in East Lansing at 3 p.m. U-M will wrap up the fall slate on Tuesday (Oct. 4) by welcoming Eastern Michigan to Alumni Field, with first pitch scheduled for approximately 3 p.m.
Following Friday night's game, Taylor is offering fans the chance to hit off her to raise money for Making Strides for Breast Cancer, an annual charity that Michigan softball supports.
Taylor, Michigan's career record holder in appearances (162), starts (124), innings pitched (853.2), wins (107), winning percentage (.863), strikeouts (1,220), saves (17) and no-hitters (8), is charging $5 a pitch (with a maximum of five pitches) or $20 for an at-bat. The number of pitches that Taylor can throw is limited, so fans are encouraged to get there early. Interested fans can come to the merchandise booth located on the first base line by the Michigan dugout before the game to purchase their spot in line.
Last season, the Wolverines raised $18,000 as a team for Making Strides for Breast Cancer. The goal for the 2012 team is $20,000, and anyone interested in making a donation can visit the donation page. The Wolverines will walk in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Admission is free to both the Michigan State and Eastern Michigan contests.
