QUOTES
Michigan Head Coach Chris Whitten
On the performance of the week ... "There were definitely good things from every guy, maybe not as consistent as we would like to be. Everyone will have some things to improve on individually. It's good to see our home course in a tournament situation with the regional later this year. Obviously, there are a lot of things we can work on and we have a long time to do it. We had some nice performances from Miguel and Jack and lots of things to build on."
On things to work on early in the season ... "We have some new guys to the team who are just learning to manage schedules and make our practices as efficient as possible, even simple things like speed control and process things on the course during the round. We have two solid weeks of practice before the next event, so we will be working hard."
On returning to the Inverness Club for the next tournament ... "Inverness is one of the great champion golf courses and it takes a lot of local knowledge to play well. You have to have a big game to play a great course so we'll be ready for that. We'll definitely be excited to play."
U-M Junior Jack Schultz
On his performance in U-M's first tournament ... "It was a little sloppy for everyone. We didn't exactly use the home-course advantage to our advantage. We have a lot of inexperience people who learned a lot this week. Hopefully, we'll be able to build on that."
On returning to Inverness ..."I know it's a great course. They hosted the U.S. Senior Open and we know it will be in great shape. It's a tough course with a good field, so I'm definitely looking forward to that."
On what to do the next two weeks between events ... "We had a lot of qualifying, which is important because at the beginning of the year you don't know who is going to be playing the best coming off the summer. We learned what we need to work on in practice, so using this week to get better is most important."
