With the loss, Michigan falls to 20-13 for the season. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Wolverines, and is only their fourth loss in the last 13 games.
Michigan drops its Big Ten Tournament record to 11-13 (7-12*). The Wolverines have lost in their second game at the Big Ten Tournament in each of the last five seasons.
With the loss, Michigan falls to 72-96 (64-93*) all-time against Ohio State. The Wolverines extended their losing streak against the Buckeyes to five games.
The Wolverines are now 0-5 against Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament. Michigan falls to 1-5 all-time against the Buckeyes on neutral floors.
Saturday's game marked the third matchup this season between Michigan and Ohio State. The Buckeyes have taken all three meetings, having previously won 68-64 in Ann Arbor on Jan. 12 and 62-53 in Columbus on Feb. 3.
This was the ninth game in which Michigan has taken on a ranked opponent, and the second time U-M has faced Ohio State when the Buckeyes were ranked No. 1. The Wolverines are 1-8 against ranked foes this season.
Darius Morris led the Wolverines with 16 points on 6-of-13 (46 percent) shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Morris also hit his first three-point field goal since sinking two treys at Michigan State on Jan. 25. Morris has led U-M in scoring in 12 games this season. Morris added a game-high three assists, as well as two rebounds and a steal, in the loss.
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 15 points on 5-of-14 shooting (36 percent), shooting 2-of-9 (22 percent) from beyond the arc and 3-of-4 (75 percent) from the free throw line. Hardaway has scored in double figures in each of his last 14 games. Hardaway added four rebounds and an assist in the win.
Matt Vogrich pulled down a career-high six rebounds, tying Zack Novak for the team high against Ohio State. Vogrich topped his previous career high of four rebounds, which he recorded against Concordia on Dec. 6. Vogrich added two points and a steal in the loss to the Buckeyes.
U-M shot 37 percent (22-of-59) from the field -- 37 percent (10-of-27) in the first half and 38 percent (12-of-32) in the second half. The Wolverines also shot 31 percent (9-of-29) from beyond the arc -- 36 percent (4-of-11) in the first half and 28 percent (5-of-18) in the second half.
U-M shot 80 percent (8-of-10) from the free throw line -- 75 percent (3-of-4) in the first half and 83 percent (5-of-6) in the second half. The Wolverines have shot at least 74 percent from the charity stripe in each of their last four games.
Michigan lost the rebounding battle, 39-33. The Wolverines are 10-12 this season when they are outrebounded by their opponent.
The Wolverines had 10 assists and turned the ball over nine times. Michigan is 16-8 this season when it records a positive assist/turnover ratio.
U-M's defense forced Ohio State into nine turnovers, leading to 13 points. The Wolverines are 1-1 this season when they finish the game tied in turnovers with their opponent.
The game featured seven ties and four lead changes. Michigan never led by more than two in the first half and trailed for good following an Ohio State jumper that made the score 29-27 with 1:42 left in the first half.
The Wolverines wore their blue jerseys for the ninth time this season. Michigan is now 3-6 this season when wearing blue.
For the ninth straight game, Michigan went with the starting lineup of Darius Morris, Stu Douglass, Tim Hardaway Jr., Zack Novak, and Jordan Morgan. Douglass played in his 100th consecutive game, having never missed a game in his career. Douglass becomes the 56th Wolverine to play in 100 career games.
