
Diving Trio Wraps Up Competition at NCAA Zone C Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Three University of Michigan women's divers wrapped up competition at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships on Saturday (March 12). Junior Amanda Lohman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) qualified for the NCAA Championships next week based on her fifth-place finish in the three-meter springboard event Thursday (March 10).
Lohman qualified for the finals on both the one- and three-meter boards. In addition to her fifth-place three-meter showing (637.30), Lohman was ninth on the one-meter board (559.65) and 14th in Saturday's 10-meter platform competition (227.05). She was Michigan's highest finisher in all three diving events. It will be her second straight trip to the NCAA Championships.
Joining Lohman in Columbus were senior Rachael Ropeik (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) and freshman Erin Bridgewater (Kawkawlin, Mich./Bay City Western). In her last collegiate competition, Ropeik qualified for the three-meter finals, finishing 14th (567.50), and took 19th in the one-meter event (257.20) and 16th on the platform (209.75). Bridgewater was 17th on platform (208.15), 26th on three-meter (242.40) and 41st on one-meter (209.85).
Lohman will join six Michigan swimmers at the 2011 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, which run Thursday through Saturday (March 17-19) in Austin, Texas.
