Postgame Notes: Michigan 70, Illinois 50

• With the 70-50 victory tonight, Michigan improved to 12-2 for the season, marking the best start through 14 games in the program's history. The Wolverines now hold a 4-2 mark in true road games this season.
• Friday's matchup was the 64th meeting between Michigan and Illinois. The Wolverines now hold a 25-39 all-time record in the series.
• Tonight's game was U-M's last in 2011. Michigan went 5-1 in the month of December.
• Michigan recorded a win in its Big Ten opener for the third time with coach Kevin Borseth at the helm. Overall he now holds a 3-2 record in league openers. Furthermore, the Wolverines are now 31-41 in Big Ten play under Borseth.
• With the victory, Kevin Borseth moved to 7-4 all-time vs. Illinois. Borseth also improved to 4-0 all-time inside Assembly Hall as head coach at U-M.
• U-M extended its three-point shooting streak to 172 consecutive games. Michigan has not been without at least one three-pointer in the Kevin Borseth era.
• Michigan held a 32-15 halftime lead in today's game. The Maize and Blue improved to 11-0 on the season when holding the lead at halftime. Additionally, U-M's defense held the Fighting Illini to a season-low 15 points in the first half.
• For the second time this season, Michigan had four players in double figures for points in the game: Carmen Reynolds (16), Courtney Boylan (14), Jenny Ryan (12) and Rachel Sheffer (10). The last time Michigan had four players in double figures was Dec. 11, 2011 at Eastern Michigan.
• Senior Carmen Reynolds led the Wolverines with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting in tonight's game. Additionally, Reynolds reached the 1,000-point plateau for her career; she has now recorded 1,006 career points.
• Two Wolverines tied for the team high with four assists each -- Courtney Boylan and Rachel Sheffer.
• Michigan won the rebounding battle, 38-30. On the season when U-M records the advantage in the rebounding battle the Wolverines improved to 8-0.
• Michigan outscored Illinois in points in the paint (34-26) and bench points (17-3).
• U-M's defense forced Illinois into 17 turnovers, leading to 18 points.
• Michigan went with the starting lineup of Courtney Boylan, Nicole Elmblad, Jenny Ryan, Carmen Reynolds and Rachel Sheffer. This was the 14th consecutive game -- every game this season -- in which U-M began with this combination.
