Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game overall ... "The difference in the game tonight I thought our team came out, I shouldn't say flat, but we were tight and we weren't good with the puck and we were hanging on without the puck. Then in the second period when we fell behind I thought we started to play our best hockey. The third period was anyone's game. Our power play kicked in tonight and good for them. Our penalty killing was solid, but we didn't have to kill six penalties. Then we got opportunistic goals. The (A.J.) Treais goal was a huge goal for us because they were still banging on the door. That team came in here and outshot us and they are a good team."
On U-M improving on the power-play ... "I would like to tell you it is a little bit of confidence, a little bit of work ethic and it is a little bit of coaching. I think (Brian) Wiseman has worked hard with this power play and tried to get them to do a few things well. Tonight we got a couple of breaks and we looked good."
On playing with more urgency late in the third period ... "I thought we played better D today, we played with a little more sense of urgency. You have got to play well without the puck when you have a lead in the game or if you're trying to catch up in the game. Either way you got to play well without the puck. I think our team realized that sense of urgency because look what happened last night in a close game right down to one little thing cost you a game. Not just a goal, but a game, a three-point home game. We're just trying to pay more attention to detail."
U-M Junior Forward A.J. Treais
On the difference from last night's game ... "I think we were just hungrier tonight. I think that loss last night really fueled our fire. We let it slip away in the third yesterday, so it was good to come out in the third and win this one."
On the improvement in power play action ... "We've been working on it a lot in practice this week. Obviously, we've been struggling a little bit this year. But it's good we got a goal today, so it's good to get that back on track a little bit."
U-M Freshman Forward Alex Guptill
On the difference from last night's game ... "Saturday night at home you've got to take the three points against a team like that, CCHA, battling for the standings, so let that one slip away last night but couldn't happen again tonight so it was a good win for us."
On the improvement in power play action ... "I think it was nice. We did go over the power play a bit in practice and also I think we just worked harder to get to the loose puck and that kind of thing. I think actually on that one goal Mac Bennett scored we just chased the puck hard and they had pressure, and they tried to flip it up but we kept it in and it is little plays like that that end up in goals."
