Q U O T E S
Michigan Head Coach Bruce Berque
On Evan King's tournament performance ... "He had a lot of good wins. I don't think he received an easy draw by any means. Right from his first match, he was facing some pretty strong players. He had to work for every match that he got, and a lot of his opponents put up really good fights against him. I thought he had to be especially strong mentally. He was very consistent with his level of play, very consistent with his ability to get into his mind and compete very well throughout the week. I definitely think it was one of the better weeks of tennis I've seen him have."
On King's progress from a year ago ... "I think he's come a long way in a lot of ways. A lot of his physical skills are better, and I think he's matured a lot. We had a heart-to-heart after last week, because I actually thought last week at the All-American was a step back for him. He responded very well this week. He lost in the finals, but in that match, there was a one-break set and long, close games, where a point here or there could have turned it for him. Overall, I was pleased that he competed well in every single match from the first point to the last point."
