
Anderson Tabbed as USA Senior National 'B' Coach

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. -- University of Michigan water polo head coach Matt Anderson has been named head coach of the USA Women's Senior National 'B' Team, USA Water Polo announced Wednesday (July 28). Anderson will begin preparing the team for the 2011 World University Games which will take place on August 12-23, 2011 in Shenzhen, China.
Anderson owns a 236-89 record after eight seasons at the helm for the Maize and Blue. A three-time Collegiate Water Polo Association Coach of the Year honoree and five-time division Coach of the Year, Anderson has guided the Wolverines to eight division and four conference titles during his tenure. He is one of just four coaches in school history to lead a women's team to 200 victories.
In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Anderson has been a long time assistant with the Men's Youth National Team. In 2009, he was selected as one of four coaches at the USA Water Polo Speedo Top 40 competition, coaching a team that featured former Wolverine and current USA Senior National Team goalkeeper Betsey Armstrong (2002-05).
Filling out Anderson's staff will be UCLA women's head coach Brandon Brooks and Stanford assistant coach Susan Ortwein.
The Senior 'B' Team will feature some of the top college and recent college stars in the world of women's water polo. The World University Games roster is limited to collegiate athletes that are within a year of their last collegiate competition.
