BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Senior Leah Robertson (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) and freshman Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) of the No. 7-ranked University of Michigan water polo team were named CWPA Western Division Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced on Monday (April 19). Each Wolverine earned her fourth weekly accolade of the season in helping Michigan to a perfect 3-0 record at the Terrapin Tournament (Sat-Sun., April 17-18).
Robertson posted eight goals, two assists, nine steals and five drawn ejections in a pair of victories over Maryland and one against George Washington. She saved her top performance for the regular-season finale, denting the twine five times and pulling five steals. Robertson has collected nine CWPA Player of the Week honors during her career, second most by a Wolverine all-time.
Adamson shined in the cage, picking up three victories by making 20 saves and holding the opposition to eight goals in 64 minutes of action. Playing the whole game, Adamson made eight saves and did not allow a goal until the third period in the Saturday contest at Maryland. She then tallied seven blocks and a playmaker (three assists) to defeat of George Washington, before wrapping up the campaign with five saves and two assists against the Terps on Sunday.
Michigan will host the CWPA Western Division Championship on Saturday (April 24) inside Canham Natatorium. The Wolverines open with Gannon at 10 a.m. for the chance to play in the championship game at 5 p.m.
