CCHA Tournament Notes
Hosting a series for the 22nd consecutive season, Michigan advanced for the 21st straight season. Its last six series have been sweeps.
In 10 career CCHA Tournament games, Louie Caporusso has 5-9-14 totals to lead all active Wolverines.
Lake Superior State Series Notes
Michigan has won 11 straight games against LSSU dating back to Feb. 18, 2007, making it U-M's longest winning streak in series history. All time, U-M leads the series 59-46-6.
U-M is 28-18-3 against LSSU on home ice. Since the start of the millennium, Michigan is 15-2-0 against LSSU at Yost Ice Arena, including an active seven-game winning streak.
The Wolverines are 6-7 in CCHA Tournament games against the Lakers.
Team Notes
Michigan scored three goals in a single period for the 14th and 15th times this season. Six of the 15 three-goal periods came against the Lakers. U-M had a trio of goals in both the first and second periods tonight as well as the third period last night.
The Wolverines have scored the first goal in 22 of their 39 games this season and are 18-4-0 when doing so.
Michigan is 16-1-0 when leading after the first period.
U-M was perfect on the penalty kill (3-of-3) for the 20th time this season. U-M is 16-4-0 in those games.
The Wolverines have six shutouts this season, which are the most since 2003-04 season when Al Montoya finished with a half-dozen blankings.
Michigan notched its fourth weekend sweep of the season and its first since taking two games from Western Michigan on Jan. 8-9.
Carl Hagelin and Louie Caporusso are now tied for the team lead in goals with 16 on the season.
Louie Caporusso potted the first hat trick for U-M since Dec. 27, 2008, when he had a natural hat trick against Michigan Tech at the Great Lakes Invitational. Tonight was also the first hat trick by a Wolverine at Yost Ice Arena since Chad Kolarik achieved the feat against Nebraska-Omaha on March 14, 2008.
Player Notes
Caporusso has three career hat tricks, but tonight was his first accomplished on home ice. His other two hat tricks came during the 2008-09 season and were both natural, while tonight's was interrupted by Jeff Rohrkemper's tally.
Louie Caporusso's hat trick moved his point streak to three games (5-2-7). He has put up a total of 14 points (9-5-14) in the past nine games.
Jeff Rohrkemper's first-period tally was the first goal and point of his career. The freshman has played in 13 games.
David Wohlberg kept his point streak alive with an assist in the second period. He has four points (2-2-4) in three games.
Carl Hagelin's two goals tie a career high for the third time this season and fifth time in his career.
Shawn Hunwick set a career high with 28 saves and recorded his first career shutout.
Steve Kampfer tied his career high for plus/minus rating with a +6.
