ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After a steady stream of rain throughout the morning and early afternoon, the No. 2-ranked University of Michigan softball team was forced to cancel its contest against No. 18 Illinois on Sunday afternoon (March 28). The game will not be made up.
The Wolverines have now lost four games to weather this season. Rain wiped out the first day of action at the season-opening NTC Division I Elite Invitational and eliminated games against Tennessee and Oklahoma. U-M also lost a road game at Auburn during its annual spring-break trip.
Michigan will resume Big Ten Conference action at home next weekend, hosting a two-game series against Wisconsin on Saturday and Sunday (April 3-4). Both games are slated for a 2 p.m. start at the Wilpon Softball Complex, home of Alumni Field.
