With the win, Michigan improves to 9-2 on the season. The Wolverines are also undefeated (8-0) at Crisler Arena this season.
Michigan's 9-2 start matches the best start during John Beilein's tenure at Michigan. The Wolverines also started 9-2 during the 2008-09 season.
With the win, Michigan extended its winning streak to six games, the longest for the Wolverines under John Beilein.
Saturday's contest marked the seventh meeting between Michigan and Oakland. The Wolverines are now 6-1 all-time against the Golden Grizzlies.
Darius Morris led the Wolverines with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting (50 percent). This was the fifth game this season that Morris has led U-M in scoring. Morris has now scored in double digits in all but two games this season. Morris added two rebounds and a game-high five assists.
With 13 points and 12 rebounds, Zack Novak recorded the third double-double of his career, all this season. Novak ties Darius Morris with three double-doubles this season. Novak added four assists in the win.
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting (33 percent), including a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line. All of Hardaway Jr.'s points came in the second half. Hardaway Jr. added four rebounds, an assist, a block, and two steals in the win.
Jordan Morgan grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds in the win. Morgan added five points, two assists and two steals.
The win marked the sixth straight game in which at least three Wolverines have scored double-digit points. Michigan is 6-0 during this stretch. Darius Morris (18), Zack Novak (13), and Tim Hardaway Jr. (10) each scored in double figures today.
Michigan outscored Oakland in each half (29-21 in the first half; 40-30 in the second half).
Michigan shot 45 percent from the field (25-of-56), 32 percent from three-point range (6-of-19) and 81 percent from the free throw line (13-of-16).
Eight different players recorded a field goal for U-M. Sixteen of Michigan's 69 points came from the bench -- Stu Douglass had seven, Matt Vogrich had five, and Jon Horford had four. Horford also added six rebounds and three blocks.
Michigan outrebounded Oakland, 40-39. The Wolverines are 7-0 this season when they outrebound their opponents.
Michigan had 17 assists and 12 turnovers, marking the fourth straight game with a positive assist-turnover ratio.
Michigan's defense held Oakland to 51 points on 18-of-60 shooting (30 percent), 29 points below the Golden Grizzlies' season average of 80.5 points per game. U-M held Oakland to 21 points in the first half, the Golden Grizzlies' lowest single-half scoring output for the season.
Oakland's Keith Benson came into Saturday's contest averaging a double-double (18.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg). Michigan's defense held Benson to 11 points and seven rebounds.
Michigan beat Oakland in points in the paint (28-20), points off turnovers (11-10) and fast-break points (6-0).
Michigan took its third lead of the game on a Jordan Morgan layup with 12:17 left in the first half. The Wolverines never trailed after this point, leading by as many as 22.
The Wolverines wore their maize jerseys for the fifth time this season. Michigan is now 3-1 this season when wearing maize.
For the 11th straight game, Michigan went with the starting lineup of Darius Morris, Zack Novak, Tim Hardaway Jr., Evan Smotrycz, and Jordan Morgan.
