With the win, Michigan improves to 7-2 for the season. The Wolverines are also undefeated (6-0) at Crisler Arena this season.
Michigan's 7-2 start matches the best start during John Beilein's tenure at Michigan. The Wolverines also started 7-2 during the 2008-09 season.
Monday's contest marked the eighth meeting between Michigan and Utah. With the win, the Wolverines are now 5-3 all-time against the Runnin' Utes, who won last season's contest, 68-52, in Salt Lake City.
Darius Morris recorded his second straight double-double with a game-high 19 points and 10 assists. This marked his third double-double of the season. Morris added three rebounds and tied a career high with four steals in the win.
Darius Morris' game-high 19 points marked the third game this season that he has led the Wolverines in scoring. Including tonight, Morris has also led Michigan in assists in every game this season.
With his 10 assists, Darius Morris recorded his fourth double-digit assist effort of his career (all this season). He became just the sixth player in Michigan history to have more than three 10-plus assist games in a career.
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting (46 percent), including 3-of-6 (50 percent) from three-point range. This is Hardaway's highest scoring output since his 19 points in the season opener against USC-Upstate on Nov. 13. Hardaway added three rebounds and an assist in the win.
Zack Novak recorded a game-high nine rebounds. This marks the fifth game this season Novak has at least held a share of the team lead in rebounds. Novak added 11 points in the win.
Jon Horford came off the bench and played a career-high 16 minutes, notching career highs in points (five), rebounds (five), and steals (one).
For the second straight game, Michigan had four players reach double-digit scoring: Morris, 19; Hardaway Jr., 17; Morgan, 11; Novak, 11.
U-M shot 46 percent from the field on 27-of-59 shooting.
Michigan lost the rebounding battle 37-32. The Wolverines are now 2-2 this season when they are outrebounded by their opponent.
Michigan shot a season-high 81 percent (13-of-16) from the free throw line.
The Wolverines tied a season high by forcing 16 turnovers on defense. They last accomplished this feat against UTEP in the Legends Classic on Nov. 27. The Wolverines scored 24 points off Utah's turnovers in the win.
U-M scored 17 fast-break points and limited Utah to only four.
Michigan set a new season high with eight steals.
Michigan never trailed in the win and led by as many as 22.
The Wolverines wore their maize jerseys for the third time this season. Michigan is now 2-1 this season when wearing white.
For the ninth straight game, Michigan went with the starting lineup of Darius Morris, Zack Novak, Tim Hardaway Jr., Evan Smotrycz and Jordan Morgan.
