ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan softball team announced its schedule for the 2011 season on Tuesday (Nov. 23). The Wolverines open 2011 with six consecutive tournament appearances and will face Big Ten Conference opponents in 11 of their 15 scheduled home games.
Michigan, the three-time defending Big Ten Champions, is slated to play 10 teams from the 2010 NCAA tournament, including Women's College World Series runner-up Arizona. The Wolverines will kick off the season at the Houston Classic (Feb. 11-13), squaring off against Southern Illinois and host Houston on opening day. U-M will also take its regular tournament trips to the FAU Kickoff Classic (Feb. 18-20), Louisville Tournament (March 12-13) and Judi Garman Classic (March 17-19) and make appearances at the UCF Invitational (Feb. 25-27) and USF Under Armour Invitational (March 4-6) as part of its annual spring break trip.
Michigan looks to add to their 46 wins at the Wilpon Softball Complex over the past three seasons, facing Bowling Green on March 30 to open up its 2011 home slate. The Maize and Blue, who have boasted the nation's third-highest attendance figure in each of the last three seasons, will host Big Ten series against Indiana, Purdue, Iowa, Ohio State and Minnesota before wrapping the regular season with a home-and-home series against intrastate rival Michigan State.
Season ticket information for the 2011 season will be finalized in December. For more information, fans are asked to email the U-M Ticket Office (mtickets@umich.edu) with their name, mailing address and phone number. Ticket information will be sent out as it becomes available.
