WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 10 -- NCAA Bound
This past week has been quite a whirlwind! After a long trip to Penn State and an unfortunate loss with 17 seconds left we did come home to some amazing news on Monday at approximately 4:40 pm.
On Monday we met in our locker room to watch the NCAA selection show. After beating Illinois and Minnesota -- two ranked teams -- we thought we had a good enough record and enough big wins to make it in, but we were not positive. I arrived at the locker room around 4:15... the anticipation was killing me. The coaches brought in California Pizza Kitchen for us to munch on, and soon enough most of the team was packed into the locker room awaiting our fate.
The show started at 4:30 and right away the first two brackets of 8 were announced... we were not in them. After every two brackets the commentator would ask Julie Foudy what she thought of the brackets and we would sit in anxiety and listen to her commentary about teams we did not care about. The third, fourth, fifth and sixth brackets all passed with us not showing up. Five other Big Ten teams managed to work their way into those brackets (Ohio State, Penn State, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.) Finally the seventh bracket appeared and the familiar and amazing maize block 'M' appeared, matched up against Oklahoma State. Cheering ensued.
Oklahoma was where we were headed and we had no clue what to expect. Meaghan Hennessey joked that we should get red shoes because Dorothy is from Oklahoma... right? Obviously we had much to learn. So today, (Wednesday) we are leaving for the OK state and I can assure you we are all looking forward to beating some cowgirls downs at the cowgirl corral! Make sure you keep up with our NCAA progress!
