Michigan falls to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten with the loss. The Wolverines are 1-4 on the road this season.
U-M has now dropped seven straight contests to Wisconsin and nine consecutive against the Badgers in Madison. The Wolverines now lead the all-time series 89-61 and have a 34-40 mark on the road against the Badgers.
The Wolverines are now 2-2 this season against ranked opponents. U-M's next two contests will also be against ranked foes as Michigan to Purdue (No. 13 AP/No. 15 ESPN/USA Today) before hosting Michigan State (No. 6 AP/No. 7 ESPN/USA Today).
Michigan wore its maize uniforms for the seventh time this season. The Wolverines are now 5-2 this season when wearing maize.
With his 23 points against Wisconsin, DeShawn Sims moved past Maceo Baston (1995-98) into 24th on U-M's career scoring list. Sims has scored 1,358 points in his Michigan career.
DeShawn Sims (23 points, 13 rebounds) recorded his 11th career double-double in the contest -- his fifth of the season. Sims' 13 rebounds are a season high.
DeShawn Sims scored 20-plus points for the seventh time this season and the 17th time in his Michigan career.
Manny Harris moved into the top 20 in career scoring at U-M with his 11 points against Wisconsin. Harris now has 1,451 points in his career, tying him for 19th on the career scoring list at Michigan with Loy Vaught (1987-90).
Manny Harris grabbed four rebounds in the contest. Harris is now seven rebounds away from reaching 500 in his U-M career.
Michigan forced just five Wisconsin turnovers, the lowest number for a U-M opponent this season.
U-M was outscored off the bench, 19-1.
Just two Wolverines, DeShawn Sims (23 points) and Manny Harris (11 points), scored in double figures. U-M is now 4-7 when fewer than three players reach double-digit scoring.
Michigan held Wisconsin to just 18 points in the first half, tied for the fewest points allowed in a half by a U-M opponent this season. The Wolverines also held Coppin State to 18 first-half points on Dec. 22.
With his start against Wisconsin, Manny Harris has now started all 85 games in his U-M career, while Stu Douglass has played in all 53 in his career. Zack Gibson extended his consecutive games played streak to 85, while DeShawn Sims has played in 115 consecutive for Michigan.
For the ninth straight game, Michigan went with starting lineup of DeShawn Sims, Manny Harris, Stu Douglass, Zack Novak and Laval Lucas-Perry.
