 Before the game, Michigan announced freshman guard Eso        Akunne would miss the winter semester of the basketball season due to academic        ineligibility. Akunne will be allowed to practice but cannot participate in games for the        remainder of the season.
        
         With the loss, Michigan falls to 8-7 on the season and 2-2 in Big Ten        play.
        
         With the loss, Michigan falls to 102-54 (96-53*) all-time against Northwestern.        The Wolverines are now 58-20 against the Wildcats in Ann Arbor.
        
         Northwestern outscored the Wolverines 40-25 in the second half, erasing a 37-28        halftime lead for Michigan. This marks only the second time all season U-M has lost after        leading at halftime.
        
         Michigan committed a season-high 18 turnovers. The Wolverines' 18 assists also        meant it was the first game all season in which U-M did not have more assists than        turnovers.
        
         With his 24 points against Northwestern, Manny        Harris moved up one spot on the Wolverines' all-time scoring list with 1,401 points,        which is good for 22nd all-time. He passed John Tidwell (1,386).
        
         Manny        Harris became the 22nd player in Michigan history to surpass 1,400 career points.        DeShawn Sims' 17 points also make him the 27th Wolverine to exceed 1,300 career points.        Sims now has 1,307 points in his U-M career.
        
         With his nine rebounds against Northwestern, Manny        Harris moved up two spots on the Wolverines' all-time rebounds list with 475, which are        good for 41st all-time. He passed Wayman Britt (469) and Tim McCormick (472). Harris was        one rebound shy of his 10th career double-double.
        
         Manny        Harris made all seven of the free throws he attempted in the loss. This gives him 410        made from the charity stripe in his career. During the game, he passed Jalen Rose (406) to        move into fifth all-time for the Wolverines.
        
         DeShawn        Sims tied a career high with three blocks against Northwestern (last vs. Penn State --        Feb. 5, 2009). He added 17 points, eight rebounds, and an assist in the loss.
        
         Darius        Morris dished out a career-high seven assists against Northwestern. This is the highest        single-game total by a Wolverine in Big Ten play this season. He also tied a career high        with two steals (last at Utah -- Dec. 9, 2009) and added six points on two three-pointers        in addition to his three rebounds.
        
         Michigan won the rebound battle against Northwestern, 35-26, marking the fifth        time all season that the Wolverines have outrebounded their opponent. U-M is 3-2 in those        contests.
        
         U-M went 13-for-14 (92.9 percent) from the free throw line against Northwestern.        It marks the first time all season the Wolverines have shot over 90 percent from the        charity stripe.
        
         U-M forced Northwestern into 12 turnovers in the contest. It is the 13th time        this season the Wolverines have forced an opponent into double-digit turnovers.
        
         For the sixth straight game, Michigan went with the starting lineup of DeShawn        Sims, Manny        Harris, Stu        Douglass, Zack        Novak, and Laval        Lucas-Perry.
        
         With his start against Northwestern, Manny        Harris has now started all 82 games in his U-M career, while Stu        Douglass has played in all 50 in his career. Zack        Gibson extended his consecutive games played streak to 82, while DeShawn        Sims has played in 112 consecutive for Michigan.
