• Today's announced crowd of 110,278 marks the 217th consecutive game with more than 100,000 fans at Michigan Stadium.
• With its victory, Michigan improved to 21-15-1 in the all-time series against Notre Dame. The Wolverines have compiled an 8-6 record against the Fighting Irish in the Big House.
• Today's game marked just the second time that a ranked Notre Dame squad faced off against an unranked Michigan team. The previous occasion was in 1985 when the Wolverines beat the 13th-ranked Irish, 20-12, in Michigan Stadium.
• Today's win was Michigan's first over a ranked opponent since coming back to defeat Wisconsin, 27-25, last season (Sept. 27, 2008).
• The last time Michigan scored 30-plus points in back-to-back games came midway through the 2007 season. U-M defeated Eastern Michigan, 33-22, on Oct. 6, 2007, and followed with a 48-21 win over Purdue (Oct. 13, 2007).
• Michigan's game captains vs. Notre Dame were senior linebacker Stevie Brown, fifth-year senior running back Kevin Grady, fifth-year senior offensive lineman David Moosman and fifth-year senior defensive end Tim North.
• Today's alumni captains were LaMarr Woodley (2003-06), Remy Hamilton (1994-96) and George Lilja (1977-80).
• Senior wide receiver Greg Mathews' game-winning touchdown catch -- a five-yard pass to the corner of the end zone -- was the sixth touchdown catch of his career and his first since scoring on an eight-yard reception vs. Minnesota last season (Nov. 8, 2008).
• Mathews recorded a career-long 40-yard reception on a third and long in the first quarter. His previous long was 35 yards, which he registered in last season's opener against Utah (Aug. 30, 2008).
• On his first carry of the season, senior Brandon Minor rushed 22 yards to the Notre Dame two-yard line in the first quarter. Minor scored his 13th career rushing touchdown on the subsequent down.
• With 106 rushing yards in the contest, Minor earned the fifth 100-yard rushing effort of his career and his first since running for 155 yards against Purdue last season (Nov. 1, 2008). Minor finished the game with 16 carries, one touchdown and a 6.6 rushing average.
• Sophomore wide receiver Darryl Stonum's 94-yard kick return for a touchdown late in the first quarter was Michigan's 13th kick return for a touchdown in program history, and the first since Steve Breaston went 95 yards against Minnesota on Oct. 8, 2005.
• It was the sixth longest kick return for a touchdown in program history. Seth Smith holds the school record - a 100-yard return vs. Wisconsin (Oct. 29, 1994).
• The return was the third of Stonum's career. Adding previous returns of 24 and 20, Stonum boasts a 46-yard average on kick returns.
• The touchdown was the second of Stonum's career. His first was a 51-yard touchdown reception last season vs. Purdue (Nov. 1, 2008).
• Stonum tallied a career-best four catches for 54 yards - the second-greatest receiving yardage of his career. He recorded 61 receiving yards last season at Purdue (Nov. 1, 2008).
• Fifth-year senior punter Zoltan Mesko wrapped the game with four punts for 130 yards, improving his own Michigan career records to 209 punts and 8,627 yards.
• Freshman quarterback Tate Forcier tallied a 50-yard punt to the Notre Dame four-yard line in the third quarter.
• Forcier set new personal rushing standards on a 31-yard run for a touchdown on a fourth-and-three early in the fourth quarter. He ended the game with 70 yards on 13 carries. His previous mark was 41 rushing yards. Michigan quarterbacks have rushed for touchdowns in both games this season.
• Forcier also set personal standards in passing, completing 23 of 33 for 240 yards. He went 13-for-20 with 179 passing yards last Saturday vs. Western Michigan (Sept. 5).
• Senior/junior linebacker Jonas Mouton earned his first career fumble recovery early in the third quarter. The fumble was forced by senior linebacker Stevie Brown - the fourth forced fumble of his career.
• Mouton has collected turnovers in consecutive games this year, adding to a fourth-quarter interception in the season opener vs. Western Michigan (Sept. 5).
• Sophomore tight end Kevin Koger picked up his second touchdown in as many games with a three-yard reception in the third quarter. Koger tallied a career-high four receptions for 38 yards in the contest.
• Senior Carlos Brown's 17-yard reception later in the drive was the longest of his career. He previously recorded a 14-yard reception against Western Michigan in last Saturday's season opener (Sept. 5). Brown ended the game with a career-high 36 receiving yards on four catches. His previous high - one catch for 14 yards -- came last Saturday vs. Western Michigan (Sept. 5).
• Fifth-year senior LaTerryal Savoy established career receiving highs with two receptions for 23 yards. All of his receiving yards came in the Wolverines' final drive late in the fourth quarter.
