
Wolverine Quartet Earns National All-Academic Honors From ACWPC

DENVER, Colo. -- Four members of the University of Michigan water polo team were recognized with All-Academic honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches today (Thursday, July 2). The Wolverine quartet is among a Collegiate Water Polo Association record 89 honorees.
Graduated senior Carrie Stover(Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) earned top honors, taking home the Outstanding (3.71 to 4.0 GPA) distinction for the second straight season as she finished her pursuit of a degree in Philosophy with minors in Environment and Italian.JuniorAlison Mantel(Miami, Fla./Gulliver) earned Superior (3.41 to 3.7 GPA ) honors, while graduated senior Julie Hyrne(Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) and sophomore Cara Reitz(Miami, Fla./Gulliver) were both tabbed with an Excellent (3.20 to 3.40 GPA) designation.
Michigan wrapped up an historic 2009 campaign with a program-best No. 7 ranking nationally. The Maize and Blue went 35-9 on its way to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championship. The Wolverines successfully defended their CWPA Western Division and Eastern Championship crowns en route to the national finish.
