Wolverines Fail to Qualify Any Divers at Zone C Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Freshman Amanda Lohman(Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and sophomore/freshman Rachael Ropeik (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team finished in the top 10 of the three-meter and platform diving, respectively, at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships this weekend (Fri-Sun., March 13-15) at the University Aquatic Center. No Maize and Blue diver managed to finish high enough in any of the three diving events to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
In Friday's (March 13) competition, Lohman placed 13th in one-meter diving to lead the Wolverines with a score of 526.90. Ropeik was the only other Michigan finalist as she finished in 16th with a score 519.30. Sophomore Jillian Drow(Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) and junior Stephanie O'Callaghan(Howell, Mich./Howell) competed in the preliminaries with Drow scoring 242.80 points to finish 18th and O'Callaghan scoring 222.70 points to finish 22nd.
Lohman turned in the top Maize and Blue performance in the three-meter event on Saturday (March 14) as the freshman finished ninth with a score of 506.90. O'Callaghan and Drow also qualified for the finals as O'Callaghan finished in 11th with a score of 503.70 and Drow finished in 16th with a score of 481.40.
On the final day of competition today, Ropeik was tops amongst Wolverines, finishing in eighth place with a score of 435.70. Drow finished three places behind Ropeik with a score of 417.20 points. Lohman placed 13th with a score of 410.25, while O'Callaghan followed right behind in 14th with a score of 402.25.
U-M will send six swimming qualifiers to next week's NCAA Championships, scheduled for Thursday through Saturday (March 19-21) at Texas A&M's Student Rec Center Natatorium in College Station, Texas. Prelims start at 11 a.m. CDT with finals beginning at 7 p.m. CDT
