The Wolverines have started the same lineup -- Darius Morris, Laval Lucas-Perry, Zack Novak, Manny Harris and DeShawn Sims -- in each of the first three games this season.
The Wolverines wore their maize uniforms for the first time this season.
With his start against Creighton, Manny Harris has now played and started all 70 games in his U-M career. He has not missed a game in his three seasons. Stu Douglass extended his consecutive games streak to 38, while DeShawn Sims has played in 99 consecutive games and 103 total for Michigan.
Michigan's overtime victory over Creighton gives U-M a 2-0 all-time series lead over the Bluejays. The only other meeting between the two schools was an 81-62 U-M victory on Dec. 3, 1962 in Ann Arbor.
Today's contest was the first for U-M in the state of Florida since March 15, 2007, an 87-66 loss at Florida State in the second round of the Postseason NIT.
With its win today, U-M advanced to the semifinals of an in-season tournament for the second straight season. Last year, the Wolverines defeated Michigan Tech and Northeastern in the Ann Arbor Regional to advance to the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer in New York City against UCLA. U-M went on to upset the No. 4 Bruins and play Duke in the championship game.
The overtime game against Creighton was the first extra period game for Michigan this season and the 91st in school history. U-M is now 58-33 all-time in overtime games.
Manny Harris finished the game just one rebound shy of his second triple-double of the season. He closed the game against Creighton with 20 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. Harris recorded his first career triple-double, and the second in U-M history, in the season opener against Northern Michigan (Nov. 14) with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Manny Harris recorded his eighth double-double of his career with his 20 points and 11 assists. It is the third time in his career he has had a points-assists double-dip.
With his 11 assists, Manny Harris posted his third career double-figure assist game and second this season. He had a career-best 13 against Oakland (Dec. 20, 2008) and had 10 in this season's opener against Northern Michigan.
With his nine rebounds, Manny Harris surpassed the 400-rebound mark in his career. He has grabbed 402 boards in his U-M career. With 30 total boards this season, he is averaging 10.0 per game.
With his 20-point effort against Creighton, Manny Harris produced his 57th career double-figure scoring game and 23rd contest with 20 or more points.
Manny Harris played all 45 minutes against Creighton to set a new career best. He topped the 42 minutes he had in the Wolverines' overtime win against Savannah State (Nov. 29, 2008).
DeShawn Sims recorded his eighth career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds against Creighton. It was Sims' second double-double of the season; he had 22 points and 10 rebounds in the season opener against Northern Michigan (Nov. 14).
Laval Lucas-Perry finished the Creighton game with 18 points, 15 of which came after halftime. Lucas-Perry's 18 points are a season high and tie the second-most points he has scored in his career. All three of Lucas-Perry's highest-scoring games have come away from Crisler Arena -- 19 at Minnesota (March 7, 2009), 18 at Indiana (Jan. 7, 2009) and 18 vs. Creighton. Lucas-Perry finished 4-for-6 from long range.
With 14 points, Zack Novak scored in double figures for the first time this season and the ninth time in his collegiate career. He was 3-for-5 from long range and is now 5-for-11 this season.
Michigan recorded 10 steals in the contest, the most for the Wolverines in a game since March 7, 2009, when they registered 11 at Minnesota.
Michigan made 10 three-pointers against Creighton, marking the second straight game the Wolverines have had 10 or more treys in a game. U-M opened the season by draining nine triples against Northern Michigan.
Coach John Beilein is now 34-36 at Michigan in his three seasons. With two games remaining in Orlando, he has a chance to even his mark as the U-M head man.
