In the history of the Wolverine Invitational, on only one other occasion was the tournament reduced to 18 holes. In 1981, the 36-hole event was reduced to just 18 holes due to inclement weather conditions.

Michigan Head Coach Kathy Teichert
On getting the tournament in... "You never like to see rounds canceled, but we were able to get in a competitive round and that is good for us. We really wanted to get our players out playing and competing. We have been qualifying and we have been doing well, but we needed to see how that translated against other teams. We only got 18 holes in, but we got the win and that is exciting. It is a good accomplishment for these girls. They have worked hard the last two weeks. It was an 18-hole shootout and it could have gone to anyone, but we buckled down and really played well. I am very happy."
On Ashley Bauer's play and round of 68... "Its awesome. She was really nervous on how the year was going to start. We have always talked to her, just wait for that first win. When you get that first win its going to come a lot easier to you and sure enough it did. She was throwing darts at pins and Im really proud and happy for her and she deserves it."
On the win leading into next weekend's event at MSU... "Our fall schedule started off pretty good for us. Now only driving an hour up the road to Michigan State, I think is going to be a great way to start the season. Many of our players played Forest Akers and we have had success there. We know the golf course pretty well. It will be a strong field and it will give us a opportunity to see where we stack up against other top-echelon teams."
U-M Junior Ashley Bauer
On her school-record round of 68... "I bogeyed No. 3 then after No. 7 things just got going. I hit 10 greens within eight feet. I played extremely well but I missed a couple of putts but I could not have played much better. I told Cheryl (Stacy) that I wanted to leave my name here at Michigan so I think it's a step in the right direction. The 68 is a good score and I'm excited to have my name up there with some great players here at Michigan. "
On the weather throughout the weekend... "It was unfortunate that the first day got canceled, but it helped today. With the greens being soft, I would find my pitch mark and the ball would be two inches from there. Things were not rolling and you would have to take that in consideration. It was warm out here but I don't mind the mugginess. Everyone is in the same boat and the course was in great condition. I cannot say enough about the ground crew that got it ready for us."
On the team win... "I don't think it could have been any better for us. We wish we would have won the 54-hole tournament but 293 is a great score. It's great that we were able to win at our home course with our home fans cheering us on. I know the girls are excited."
