ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Wolverines are focusing on the Brown Jug and Minnesota this week, a rivalry coach Rich Rodriguez emphasized to the team -- specifically the freshmen -- during a team meeting earlier this week. Since arriving on campus, Rodriguez has been well aware of the importance of this rivalry, brushing up on the history with equipment manager/team historian Jon Falk. Falk also happens to be 'the keeper of the Jug' when it resides in Ann Arbor.
The main topic of conversation between the media and Rodriguez was the status of starting quarterback Steve Threet. The redshirt freshman has not practiced this week as he still has some symptoms from the concussion he suffered in the fourth quarter against Purdue. Threet's status for Saturday is very questionable, and he'll be re-evaluated later today. Back-up Nick Sheridan has stepped in, and freshman Justin Feagin, who moved from the slot to quarterback, was taking snaps today.
As for other injury updates, both Mike Williams and Sam McGuffie return to the lineup this week after missing the Purdue game with concussions from the Michigan State game two weeks ago. Running back Carlos Brown and receiver Junior Hemingway are still out.
On hand for practice today were scouts from the New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals.
