Michigan coach Andrew Sapp
On tournament weekend ... "It was the second straight weekend that we got off to a very poor start and then played better in the second round ... really to play catch-up. It was good that we passed a few teams in the second round. We actually played fairly well today compared to the rest of the field in the nine holes that we played. We have to stop putting ourselves in the position where we need to play catch-up. Again, it is nice to pass a few teams in the final round, but it is even nicer when teams are chasing to pass you. We need to get back to that again."
On where the team is after the last two tournaments were shortened due to weather ... "It is hard to say. We definitely had some good things happen in both events, but it is hard to say how much you get out of it because in a sense it's not really golf. When you are playing and the wind chill factor is below freezing, it's more survival and who is going to survive the best."
On where the team goes from here in the final preparation for Big Ten's ... "Well, at least we know what we need to prepare for after playing the Scarlet Course this week. We can go home, get ready for final exams this week, take the final and practice. We know exactly what type of shots we need to practice ... the chip shots, the bunker shots and iron shots that we will need to hit because we know the golf course. It gives us a little more focus in practice with exam schedules everything is going to be a little clustered as far as team practices are concerned. Individually, guys are going to be able to practice on their own and know exactly what to work on to get ready for Big Tens."
On more of the advantages of playing on the Big Ten Championship course early ... "It is an advantage because obviously you are playing the same course that you are playing Big Ten's on in two weeks. However it isn't that much of an advantage because everyone, but Minnesota, played it this week. Everything just depends on what you do this week to get your games in shape to play this golf course again. It was nice to play it (Scarlet Course) because there were some radical changes to this golf course with the redesign. So, it was good to see those and help us in our preparations over the next week and a half. It is going to be nice to prepare to play a particular golf course, which isn't something you get to do that often C to know the golf course very well in order to prepare for it."
