Head Coach John Beilein
On the run UCLA ended the game on ... "We have these little phases right now where (individual players) will revert back to just trying to do it by (themselves) or we forget the basics we've been talking about. Then all of sudden they just explode on you."
On the difficulty of the preseason schedule..."I'm a big fan of that, I just think it should probably be on years when you have four or five starters back -- that's when you go after that. Every game rally helps us, really. If we were playing one of those really low RPI teams it going to help us in some way (but) it's a fine line from helping you and blowing up your confidence."
Sophomore Forward DeShawn Sims
On the team's play in the first half..."We just played together. We were unselfish and we played with a chip on our shoulders."
On the confidence the team gained today... "We played a very good team today. Obviously, we're not content with the result but we can still take some key things away from this ballgame and roll them over into the Big Ten season."
Sophomore Forward Ekpe Udoh
On the team's effort today... "We came out tough; we came out as the underdog. We knew what we had to do to get the fans into it and let everybody know that we came to play. In the second half, we just had a couple of lapses. They started hitting shots and we missed our shots."
On what today's game does for the growth of a young team... "It shows that we are right there. We can beat the UCLAs and all the other big-name schools. We just have to keep working hard and we'll get there. We'll have our chance."
