Guard Lucas-Perry Transfers to Men's Hoops Program

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's basketball coach John Beilein announced Friday (Dec. 21) that freshman combo-guard Laval Lucas-Perry(Grand Blanc, Mich./Flint Powers Catholic HS) has transferred to the Wolverine men's basketball program. Lucas-Perry comes to U-M after attending one semester at the University of Arizona.
Due to NCAA rules, Lucas-Perry will have sit out of competition of one full academic calendar year, but he will be able to practice with the team. Lucas-Perry will be eligible to play for the Wolverines following the conclusion of the 2008 fall semester.
"We are thrilled to have a student-athlete of Laval's caliber join the program," said Beilein. "He is a terrific young man with a wonderful family. Not only is he a talented basketball player, his strong character is what we are looking for with this program. We look forward to coaching him every day as we develop this team."
The 6-3 guard averaged 4.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game in five games for the Wildcats this seasons. His most productive appearance came against UMKC (Nov. 19) when he tallied nine points, five rebounds and two assists in an 81-62 win.
