The No. 2 seed in the 128-player singles draw, Parks cruised through the first three rounds of competition by surrendering just a combined five games to his opponents. Ninth-seeded Connor Roth took Parks to three sets in the round of 16 before the future Wolverine prevailed by a score of 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-0. Parks then dispatched eighth-seeded Scott Lieberman by a 6-3, 6-4 margin to advance to the semifinals. Parks outlasted third-seeded Bryant Salcedo, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, before falling to 12th-seeded Joshua Graves, 7-6(0), 2-6, 6-4, in the championship match.
Parks and teammate Andrew Thomson (West Bloomfield, Mich.), the third-seeded tandem in the 64-team doubles bracket, knocked off three seeded pairings en route to the championship final, where they dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to 13th-seeded Matthew Allare and Chris Herrlinger.
Parks earned four varsity letters at Troy High School and dropped just two matches at No. 1 singles in his final year. Although he fell to Ann Arbor Pioneer's Andy Gauthier by a score of 6-4, 6-4 in the Division I state finals, Parks was still named Michigan's Mr. Tennis at the conclusion of the 2006 season. The award, presented by the Detroit Free Press and the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association, is given annually to the state's top senior player.
