Michigan Head Coach Matt Anderson
On the season overall ... "Regardless of what happens, only one team in this tournament is going to walk away truly happy. The next team that is going to feel good--in a few days and all--is the team that was in the championship game and didn't win. We had a very good season in a sense that we accomplished goals and had an opportunity to play in the championship game. Yes, we wanted to win it, but the reality is, losing in the championship game means we had a solid season and that is how we have to look at it. The freshmen got some good experience in getting us to this point. The seniors ended a strong career with the league titles and three straight Eastern Championships in a row and an NCAA bid last year. Although the goal is always to continue to win, when you don't win, you have to reflect on whether it was a strong season or not and all things considered, our season was a good season."
On the 2006 senior class ... "They came in when I came in. We've been together for four years and they've done a lot for Michigan water polo and Michigan tradition and they are all going to be successful in whatever profession they get into and that is as important. That the skills they learned being a student-athlete, they are going to be able to take on into each of their professional lives. They all just had great careers."
